The Puschkinhaus in Halle was built in 1887 by the Freemasonry Lodge with a facade in the style of Roman palace architecture. At the beginning of the 1950s, the house was transferred to the Society for German-Soviet Friendship and was given the name “House of DSF A.S. Pushkin", popularly known as the Puschkinhaus. Today the Puschkinhaus houses the Puschkino arthouse cinema and the Druschbaklub, as well as theater performances.
